APPEARANCE
In his regular form, he appears to have a short, black hair with red highlights. He wears a black-golden eyepatch covering his forehead and the left eye. Oftentimes he wears a dark-purple yukata with spider lily design on the hands and a black with golden embroider haori jacket to go with. He is usually seen smoking a thin pipe when leisurely sitting down on his dojo's porch. As for his vision, he hung it on his waist closely to his scabbard.Being a kitsune, Daisuke also has a fox form, but he never shows it to anyone else.
PERSONALITY
Daisuke has an aloof, blunt, and sarcastic personality, sometimes condescending, which made him look like an apathetic figure. While that's not entirely wrong, he can be protective towards people he cares about, oftentimes endanger his well-being for the sake of others. Whenever he assumes his duty as the mentor of his dojo nor Shuumatsuban, he is known to be a strict and demanding teacher. He wants everything done perfectly and wouldn't hesitate to knock them down if he deemed not good enough. Although his teaching method is unusual, but it is effective. Because of this, his students respect and fear him a lot at the same time.As a kitsune and youkai, he has a mischievous side that allows him to trick people into his bidding. Usually, it's nothing more than a few errand and such, but sometimes, he would prolong it into an elaborate, long-winded affairs that ends up profit him in any ways possible.
TRIVIA
His name came from 大 (dai) and 輔 (suke). Combined those two kanjis together and you will get the meaning; "a great help". Whilst his surname 高 (taka) and 山 (yama) can be read as "tall mountain".
His dojo located outside of Inazuma's city, near the Chinju Forest.
Despite rarely drink, he can hold liquor better than most people.
Almost no one knew about his true identity as a kitsune, even if he were rumored as such.
CHARACTER STORIES
Jinyu’s Dojo is well known amongst Inazuma citizens. Not only they produced some of the best samurai ever existed, so does the attitude of the sensei himself. Takayama Daisuke, the feared teacher that can single-handedly knock people down without having to lift a finger.With his unmatched ability alone, various rumors gather around him like a bird-flock watching him in silence. The most popular one being him a descendant of kitsune lineage. The reason behind it was because of the villagers in Konda Village.One of the villagers said that one night he saw Daisuke roaming around the village with a plate of dango in his hand. Following from behind, he watched as Daisuke put the dango on the front of the Goddess of Kitsune's altar. In that moment, a glimpse of a nine-tails caught his eyes."I swear, I'm not lying! I saw it with both of my eyes, Takayama-sensei become a kitsune that night!"Though there is no hard evidence to support this claim, people in the village believe him. They think it explains why the man had such monstrous prowess.As the rumor becomes much bigger, many people begin to search for any clear proof that can prove this statement, but to this day, almost no one has succeeded.When he was asked about the genuinity of the said rumor, he responded with an eye roll. “Whether I’m a kitsune or not, it doesn’t concern you at all. Now, continue your training or else.”
A calamity.A man-eating yokai.A God.It had been ages since the last time he heard those nicknames used to describe him.People on Narukami Island feared their life as he went on his rampage, wreaking havoc on everything he could reach. He didn’t care about the people who lost their life due to his action, or the many houses he had destroyed. All he cared about was the pain and sorrow that ran deep in his veins after losing the only person that was important to him.Kitsune Saiguu. The one who saved him from his old-self, was also the reason why he went back to his old-self. Consumed by the darkness from the cataclysm, he would never forgive himself for failing to protect her.It was no secret that the Kitsune no Saigai, one of the ancient beings that reside on Narukami Island, had the strength of a God. He can easily defeat monsters without batting an eye, it was but an easy task for him to destroy any living being on Narukami Island if he so desired.But alas, the God of Eternity happened to arrive at the perfect time before it could happen. The moment she appeared, all eyes were on her, including the Kitsune no Saigai. The hatred on those emerald eyes was visible to the naked eyes.“You…—!” He soared. “How dare you step into this land again!”“After everything you did—!” He gritted his teeth.“If only you didn’t tell her about that, she wouldn’t have to die.” Ei stood still, expressionless, which irked the kitsune more, hence the reason he decided to attack the God. He was confident he could defeat her, but the kitsune had no idea that she had just defeated the Orobashi no Mikoto.It was a long and arduous battle that went on several days. Places got destroyed, lives were annihilated, and blood everywhere.And finally, Ei managed to beat him. The last thing the Kitsune saw on his left eye was Ei striking him with her blade. Her Musou no Hitotachi technique could've ended him right there, yet it didn’t, only wound his left eye permanently.“I should’ve killed you for the destruction you’ve caused” She spook out. “But you’re her beloved disciples, so I’ll spare you only this time.” Looking down at the kitsune, she then continued. “Now, leave.”Just like that, she leaves the Kitsune all alone amidst the rain.
“Why did you choose to stay, sensei?”Is what the inquiry his students ask him every now and then. With his strength alone, many people can imagine how Daisuke can be something much bigger rather than becoming a teacher if he would just let go of his status. For example, becoming the best sword-wielder in the land of eternity.And without fail, he always replied with the same answer.“Because I like this dojo.”The answer he gave, of course, didn’t satisfy the people, but he couldn’t care less. It was the truth, even if only by half.He likes being in the Dojo more than anything, teaching new people that want to learn about Yasuragi art. That way, his old friend’s legacy will always be known.Jinyu’s dojo is everything to him, and so are the memories that came along with it. He would protect it with everything he has. He can’t afford to lose another important thing in his life.
The Sakoku Decree and Vision hunt Decree were issued almost the same time. Many of his students who happened to receive the vision were scared, fearing the Tenryou Commission would find them and take their vision away. They gradually lost their focus as the situation was getting worse each day. Until one day, the training was suddenly halted midway because of a rumor about Tenryou Commission who will be visiting the dojo spread through every single person, creating chaos inside the place."What, what should we do? I don't want my vision to be taken!"“Ah, I should’ve sailed away while the border was open!”"Have you heard of Ishida? After his vision was taken from him, he changed drastically!""Oh, Archon, we're doomed!""Stop blabbering." Finally, Daisuke, who can't stand it anymore, spoke out in his lower and stern voice. The once chaotic atmosphere becomes eerily silent. It seemed they realized they’ve done something to trigger Daisuke’s wrath, because he sent a death glare towards all of them."I don't know why you’re so freaked out about your vision being taken, but while you're at my dojo, nothing will happen to you and no one is going to take away your vision.” He stared at each of them, hues of emerald piercing right into their soul. “Now, focus on your training!" At that moment, everyone immediately went back to their position and continued the training as if nothing had happened.Later on, Daisuke would sneak out to meet with the young lady from Naganohara in the middle of the night, asking her help to counterfeit some of his student's visions. If the next weeks a package suddenly appears on their bag that contains their counterfeit vision and a short letter about how to hide their real vision, they didn't say a word to him and just do as the instruction told them to, while feeling grateful that they have someone watching over them.
